Dismissal Procedures

Logistics & Reminders

  • A reminder that right turns into the carline are not permitted. This helps ensure the safety of staff directing traffic and keeps our dismissal number system running smoothly.
  • The school day begins with the 8:55 AM bell. Students arriving by parent drop-off should be inside the building before the bell rings. If a child arrives at 8:55 or later, we kindly ask that a parent or guardian accompany them to the front office to sign in before heading to class.
  • Dismissal begins at 3:35 PM and the time for vehicles to enter the car pick up loop will be at 3:30. 
  • Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work together to keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for all families

Same Day Dismissal Changes

If you send an email to your student's teacher about same day dismissal, please make sure to include the following e-mail addresses in addition your student's teacher: abelott@ycsd.york.va.us (Ms. Annie), jauth@ycsd.york.va.us (Ms. Jenn). The front office manages an end of day dismissal change platform for the classroom teachers & substitutes. We want to make sure your request is honored, teachers may not see the message during the day because they are instructing students. Same day dismissals must be called in or emailed before 2:00PM.

 

Dismissal after 3:00 PM

After 3 p.m. parent's must pick up their child(ren) in car line.
